What People Are Saying about The Glory of the Son
We would love to hear from you! See comment box below.
Joyce Kohler, Poet of the Year 2017, Utah State Poetry SocietyIf as Keats declared, “truth is beauty, beauty truth,” we have a wealth of both in Sharon Anderson’s book The Glory of the Son. In her poems you can taste the “purple-brown sweetness” of the figs. You can see the raven’s feathers “shine like the eyes of those about to die.” You can hear the “bells around the hem of Aaron’s robe” and feel the straw running through your fingers as it is braided into a bee step and smell the acrid oder of the match, the flame, and the smoke of Fire Building. The people in these poems become more real. John the Baptist is as “unpretentious as camel hair.” Pilate takes the easy way out as the water drips from his finger tips “into a hollow bowl.”
Although you may be eager for more and more and want to gobble up these words, I hope you will take time to meditate and read them slowly. I was impressed by the breadth and depth of Sharon’s understanding of things that matter deeply and the powerful way she expresses of those things. Anderson’s scripture–like insights are sacred. We are so blessed that she shares them with us. |

From Scott Saunders. I love the depth of spiritual meaning in each poem. Today, I asked the Lord what He would teach me, and a few minutes later found myself holding "The Glory of the Son." I opened and read "Because of the Sacrifice" What a powerful connection between the Tree of Life and the cross. I pondered on this association and found many scriptures. I began to write and kept going deeper. It was a joyful learning experience as the Spirit taught me about trees, Jesus Christ, life, sacrifice, and the contrast of the sweet and bitter. Wonderful! Thank you so much for your book. And thank you for sharing your thoughts in it. These words are life-changing. Scott S.

Don L. Searle, former editor for the magazines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, novelist and poet..Sharon’s poetry has always impressed me because her words challenge me to look at things that I thought were familiar and consider them in a new light. Inevitably, I learn something new and see a facet of the gospel of Jesus Christ I had not seen before. I could ask no better gift from poetry.
